Arline H. Mustar

Arline passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2021 at Foothills Presbyterian Retirement Center in Easley, South Carolina at the age of 102.

She was born in Amery, Wisconsin on April 29, 1918 to Lawrence and Laura Belle Farr.

The family moved to South Dakota in the fall of 1918. She grew up on the Wilder homestead near Colton, South Dakota. She walked to a one room school house during her grade school years, and graduated from Humboldt high school.

On September 15, 1940 Arline married Zack E. Mustar. They moved to Montrose, South Dakota and raised four children. In May of 2011, she moved to Easley, South Carolina where she remained the rest of her life.

For 17 years she owned Arline's Notions Shop in Montrose, and also worked in the United States Postal service for 19 years, retiring in 1980.

Arline was an avid bowler for 42 years, bowling as many as 4 leagues a week. She bowled in twenty-eight State tournaments and fifteen National League tournaments and was the first lady to be inducted into the South Dakota Bowling Hall of Fame in 2008 at the age of 90. Pro-bowler Norm Duke presented her with the Hall of Fame plaque.

She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren; working in the yard and garden; playing card games, working puzzles and knitting. Arline loved travel and spent years traveling the country side with family and friends seeing all 50 states. She also traveled to European countries and Canada.

Arline is survived by her daughter, Doreen K. Mustar (James) Fitcher of Chino Valley, Az.; her son, Lee R.(Sally) Mustar of Piedmont, S.C.; her 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

There will be a private family grave side service 10:00AM, Friday June 11, 2021 at the Hartford, South Dakota Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life memorial service 11:30AM at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Montrose, South Dakota.

Arline is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Laura Belle Farr; her husband, Zack Mustar; daughter, Linda Karen Mustar; daughter and son-in-law, Beverly S. Mustar (Dean) Osterman; her son, Dale E. Mustar; four brothers, Willis O. (Gladys) Farr; Cecil M. (Joyce) Farr; Earl L. Farr and Alvin L. Farr.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Karen Wyckoff Rein in Sarcoma Foundation, Dean and Beverly Osterman fund, 7401 Central Avenue NE Suite A, Fridley, MN 55432-3571.

Such a nice Lady and Aunt that raised such a great family. Always enjoyed spending time with them growing up. So happy she lived such a long life and was able to spend time with children and grandchildren. We know she'll be missed but there are lots of good memories of her life to celebrate.
