Esther Snyder Obituary
Esther (Gerken) Snyder, 103 of Sioux Falls, passed away at Avera Prince of Peace on Jan. 16, 2017. Service will be held 2 pm on Thursday in the Prince of Peace Chapel with visitation one hour prior to the service and interment at Hills of Rest Memorial Park.
Esther was born in Tea, Sd., on December 8, 1913 to Ben and Anna Gerken. She was raised in Tea where she attended school. She married John Snyder in Sioux Falls on August 21, 1930. They were blessed with two daughters, Rozella and Lorraine.
Esther and John moved around the country working in the construction industry until 1946 when they moved back to Sioux Falls. Esther worked asa housekeeper to the Wilson family and later for the Lowell Hanson family and Lynn Hanson for many years. Esther enjoyed neddle work and the quilting circle at church.
She is survived by her daughters, Rosie (Dale) Williamson and Lorraine (Leon) Pfotenhauer; four grandchildren, David (maria) Pfotenhauer of Indio, CA, Debra Snoozy of Belle FOuche, Sd, Kevin Williamson (Denise) of Carlsbad, CA and Paul (Cathy) Pfotenhauer of Gardnerville, NV; three great granddaughters and two great granddaughters.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Alma; a nephew; and her husband, John.
