Helen Aukerman Obituary
Helen "Lovey" Aukerman, age 88, passed away June 28, 2015, at Prince of Peace Retirement Community in Hospice Care. She was born May 20, 1927 in Beresford, SD, daughter of Arlie P. and Aslaug C. Frank. The family homesteaded in Rapid Valley, farming and raising cattle. Helen had one sister, Arlene and two brothers, Keith and Eldon. Helen graduated from Rapid City High School May 28, 1945. She met Frank Aukerman while deer hunting and later married on November 27, 1946. Helen enjoyed hunting and was an expert game spotter. She enjoyed fishing, camping, knitting, making and teaching Hardangar, along with driving sports cars. Helen enjoyed traveling and researching her family's genealogy for over 25 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and Daughters of the American Revolution.
Children in Helen's life were; daughter Karen (Ron) Madsen and son Rodney (Ranae) Aukerman. Six grand children; Scott Madsen, Christopher (Deb) Madsen, Elisa (Phil) Heckenlaible, Casey (Kara Frankman) Madsen, Travis Aukerman, Bryan (Jenna) Aukerman. Four great grandchildren Paige Madsen, Amber & Laura Heckenlaible, and Phoenix Madsen.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband numerous relatives and many friends.
A Memorial Service will begin at 2:00 on Friday, July 10, 2015 at the Sacred Heart Chapel of Avera Prince of Peace Retirement Community in Sioux Falls.
