Dell Rapids - Helen J. Riswold, 93, of Dell Rapids passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Covington Care and Rehab.

Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM Thursday, January 4, 2018 at East Nidaros Lutheran Church, rural Baltic. Visitation will be from 4-6:00 PM Wednesday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic. Burial will be in the East Nidaros Cemetery.

Helen was born August 19, 1924 at Baltic to Alvin and Emma (Bruaas) Riswold. She grew up on the farm near Baltic and graduated from Baltic High School in 1942. Following graduation, she stayed at home and helped with the farm work. She then started her employment as a bank teller with Dakota State Bank in Baltic in 1959 and continued with First National Bank until her retirement in 1986. She moved to Dell Rapids in 1968.

She was baptized and confirmed at East Nidaros Lutheran Church, where she was a lifelong member and was active in WELCA, Martha Circle, teaching Sunday school and was Sunday school superintendent for several years. She was also a charter member of the Baltic American Legion Auxiliary.

Helen is survived by four nephews, Stanley (Dodie) Anderson, Don (Carol) Riswold, Dave (Francie) Riswold, Dennis (D'one) Riswold and four nieces, Myrna (Griff) Hill, Jackie (Don) Stich, Sharyn Riswold and Mary (Larry) Prudic and numerous great nieces & nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brother, John, Ivan, Francis, Donald and Spencer, a sister Marlys Anderson and a nephew, Ron.

Memorial may be directed to the East Nidaros Building Fund.
