Jacob Hofer Obituary
Jacob Paul Hofer, 45, of Geddes, SD, passed away Monday, April 27, 2015 at Avera McKennan Hospital and University Health Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral Services are 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 1, 2015 at the First Reformed Church in Platte, SD. A Committal Service will follow at Tschetter Colony, Olivet, SD. Visitation will be held at the church from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. Thursday, April 30, 2015 with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service. Mount Funeral Home of Platte is assisting with arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may be extended to the family through mountfuneralhome.com.
Jacob Paul Hofer was born on July 30, 1969 to Paul and Justina Hofer in Parkston, SD. He graduated from the Tschetter Colony School in Olivet, SD. At the age of 18 he moved to Sioux Falls, SD for 13 years where he was employed at John Morrell. After relocating to Geddes, SD, he worked for Meyerink Farm Service, Dakota Manufacturing, the Platte Implement and Missouri Valley Fencing.
Jacob was a member of the First Reformed Church in Platte, participated in Pool and Dart League and loved fishing and hunting.
Grateful for having shared in Jacob's life: his three children and two grandchildren: Melissa and Michael Schmig (Julie and Amy) of Henry, SD, Travis Hofer and Jason Hofer both of Geddes, SD; his father, Paul Hofer of Tschetter Colony; three brothers: Paul, Jr. (Unina Mae) Hofer of Wosley, SD, Phillip (Maria) Hofer and Leroy (Margie) Hofer, all of Tschetter Colony; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Jacob was preceded in death by his mother, Justina (Mar. 20, 2008) and a brother, Gary Hofer (Aug. 9, 1984).
