Jaeci Claire Westerhuis, 10, of Platte, SD passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015. Funeral Services are 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the Platte-Geddes Elementary School Gymnasium in Platte. A Private Family Committal Service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family strongly encourages memorials in Jaeci's honor be directed to: Westerhuis Family Memorial, c/o Platte-Geddes Community School, PO Box 140, Platte, SD 57369. Jaeci Claire Westerhuis was born on January 23, 2005 to Scott and Nicole (Fish) Westerhuis in Platte, SD. She attended the fifth grade at Platte-Geddes Community School and was a member of the First Reformed Church. Jaeci loved spending time with her friends and participating in swim team, cheer, softball and Awana.

Jaeci will be thought of often and was quieter and more reserved. She had a very kind heart and was friendly to all. Jaeci was respected by all and her classmates, who really looked up to her. Her laughter was infectious. Jaeci was very active in basketball, volleyball, swim team, and Girls on the Run.

Grateful for having shared in Jaeci's life: her grandparents, George and Karen Fish of Platte, SD; her grandmother, Pat Westerhuis of Platte, SD; her great-grandfather, Floyd Beukelman of Sioux Falls, SD; along with aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Jaeci was preceded in death by: her grandfather, Harm Westerhuis; an aunt, Gina Westerhuis and an uncle, Tim Fish. Also her parents, Scott and Nicole; two brothers, Michael and Connor; and sister, Kailey.
