Vermillion - Leigh Dyvig, 65, of Vermillion, South Dakota passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Sanford Vermillion Hospital.
Leigh was born June 28, 1955 in Bismarck, North Dakota. He graduated from Lincoln Senior High School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where his theatrical talents led him to hitchhike to New York City to enhance and elevate his acting skills. His lifelong true passion was theatre. He was an accomplished actor while living in Sioux Falls and supported the theatre later in life helping build and paint sets for area theatres in Yankton and Sioux City. He was known for his wonderful singing voice, which he used in his acting career and voice-over work for radio, television, and films. Leigh served in the South Dakota Air National Guard. He was an accomplished tobacconist, experimenting and creating many different tobacco blends while working at Eastwold Smoke Shop. He organized, promoted and ran several extremely successful dinner events for non-profit organization fund-raisers. He was a man of many interests and talents, reading, weight training, nutrition, and physical fitness; all the sciences and he loved the outdoors and camping. He had a passion for foreign cars, World Rally and Formula 1 racing.
Leigh was preceded in death by his mother, Naola L. Thorson, and his grandparents.
He is survived by his wife, Terry, his son, Colin (Deesha) Dyvig, his father, John Dyvig, brothers, Mark (Amy) Dyvig, and Cameron (Mary) Dyvig.
A memorial open house will be scheduled for family and friends, TBD.
