Norma Jean Kant, 83, of Sioux Falls, SD, died Sunday, January 13, 2019, at Ava's House Hospice in Sioux Falls. Memorial Visitation with family present to greet friends will be from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory, Sioux Falls. Interment will take place at a later date at Hills of Rest Cemetery in Sioux Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for future designation to the Sioux Falls Humane Society.

Norma Jean Eidenshink was born on May 5, 1935, in Yankton, South Dakota, to Edward and Frances (Pieper) Eidenshink. The family later moved to Sioux Falls where she attended high school. She married Charles "Chuck" Kant on October 20, 1951, and they raised seven children. She worked as a waitress at various well-known Sioux Falls restaurants, including Giovanni's, Black Watch, The Depot and The Galley. She also worked in food service at Sioux Valley Hospital for several years until her retirement.

After retiring, Norma enjoyed watching baseball with her husband, reading and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband of 67 years, Charles Kant, Sioux Falls; children, Peggy Savage, Sioux Falls, Sharon Schuldt, Sioux Falls, Sandy Murray, Lawrence, KS, Steve (Stella) Kant, Wentworth, SD, Tim (Jamie) Kant, Sioux Falls, Mary (Tom) Wingert, Sioux Falls and Kathy (Michael) Nelson, Renner, SD. She is also survived by an extended family of grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, and a sister, Lucille Langlett, of Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Elmer Eidenshink, Lorraine Dahl, Karen Kuhn, Diane Thompson, and her son-in-law, Michael Schuldt.
