Ronald Wyatt Obituary
Dr. Ronald O. Wyatt, age 77, of Big Stone City, died Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 3, at Mundwiler Funeral Home.
Ronald Wyatt was born May 23, 1939, in Manning, Iowa, to Lester and Margaret (Collier) Wyatt. He graduated from Spirit Lake High School. After high school, Ronald was united in marriage to Donna Nelson on August 31, 1957. To this union, four children were born. The Wyatt family lived in various places during Ronald's thirteen years of service with the United States Air Force. They eventually moved to Sioux Falls, SD, where they stayed for many years until moving to a lake house in Big Stone City.
Ronald attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls and also played football for them. Ronald attended medical school at USD School of Medicine in Vermillion, SD and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He interned at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls. He joined the Air Force in 1966 and ultimately achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before going into private practice. Ronald was stationed at Elmendorf AFB, Lackland AFB and Eglin AFB before going into private practice in Sioux Falls in 1975. Here he was a partner in Orthopedic Associates LTD. He specialized in total joint replacements. In 1992, Ronald was presented an award for one of the four original investigators for the New Jersey total knee replacement. Ronald personally performed over 1000 total knees. He loved to hunt, fish and golf.
Left to cherish Dr. Wyatt's memory are his children: Tim (Jeannette) Wyatt of Wayzata, MN; Kim (Van) Moser of Sioux Falls, SD; Steve (Shelly) Wyatt of Fargo, ND; and Julie (Steve) Boehning of Fargo, ND; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings: Carol Honken of Garner, IA; Tom (Kathy) Wyatt of Indio, CA; and Rick (Nancy) Wyatt of Edina, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Donna.
