Jerry was born to Burton Clyde Bunker & Sadie Kathryn Bunker in Medford, OR. He was raised on a ranch with his brothers Jack & Jim, near Eagle Point, OR. He had a wonderful childhood, ranching, hunting & fishing. He was involved with Boy Scouts, the Pegasus Horse Club & later with Tractor Driving contests & FFA activities. He won 1st place at State in tractor driving & he was Chapter Star farmer in FFA. He graduated in 1969 & that summer went to Europe with other FFA students from around Oregon as a Good Will Ambassador. In the fall of 1969 he crossed the state to go to TVCC in Ontario majoring in Forestry. That is where he met Cheryl Olson. They were married in 1971 & then spent two years near Eagle Point where Jerry worked for the railroad & then drove delivery truck for an egg ranch. Jerry and Cheryl moved back to Ontario where Jerry worked as a heavy equipment operator for Skyline Farms, Vale Irrigation District & the BLM. In his spare time he was very involved with the TVCC Drama Dept. Along with acting he also helped build & design sets & do lighting, sound & make-up. Around that time he started working for the Argus Observer as a dark room tech & also a pressman. Jerry & Cheryl welcomed their first child, a son Erick in 1980 & welcomed a daughter Amy in 1985. His family was what Jerry loved most dearly. Whatever his family was involved with Jerry was too. No matter what, his family came first. His family also included his dogs. For many years (over 50) he raised Samoyeds. He also had Malamutes, Huskies and a few mixed breeds. He loved them all. For the past 20 years he & Cheryl Lived in Vale. He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde & Sadie & his brothers John "Jack" & James "Jim." He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cheryl, his son Erick, daughter Amy (Nathan) Montgomery, and his grandsons Lucian (14) & Keaton (2) Montgomery and his Sister-In-Law Kay Bunker along with numerous nieces & nephews. There will be a memorial service at a later date.
