Jean Martin

PORT ALLEGANY - Jean E. Martin, 80, of Roulette passed away Thursday (Sept. 25, 2025) at UPMC Cole, Coudersport.
She was born May 28, 1945, in Port Allegany, the daughter of Albert and Betty Empson Dates. On Sept. 10, 1966, in Roulette, she married George E. Martin, who survives. Jean and George had just celebrated 59 years of marriage.
Jean was a graduate of Port Allegany High School Class of 1963. She baby sat for families and cleaned houses for many years.
Jean was very active. She was a life member of the Roulette Fire Department Women's Auxiliary, attended the Coudersport Senior Center, and was a member of the Potter County Area Agency on Aging Advisory Board. She was an avid NASCAR fan, was active on bowling teams, was a Pittsburgh Steeler and Buffalo Bills football fan, a New York Yankees baseball fan and loved ladybugs. Jean and George wintered in Florida for 27 years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Jeffrey G. (Jenny Saltsman) Martin of Roulette; two grandchildren, Corbin (Kim) Martin of Coudersport and Lynzie A. (Jim) Rinamon of Cuba, N.Y.; five great-grandchildren, Bailey Jean Martin and Max, Ronan, Trey and Ava Tettit; one brother, Ronald (Judy) Dates of Roulette; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by one grandson, Jaret J. Martin; and one brother, James Dates.
Visitation will be held 10 a.m. to noon Thursday (Oct. 2, 2025) at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes Inc., 105 Main St., where funeral services will immediately follow with the Rev. James Cannistraci officiating. Burial will be in Card Creek Cemetery, Roulette.
Memorials can be made to the Roulette Fired Department Women's Auxiliary.
