John Ferrando Obituary

John Francis Ferrando, 87 of Ashland, Wisconsin, passed away on October 18, 2024. at Aspirus St. Lukes. Born on April 27, 1937, in Mellen, WI. The son of Francis and Ruth Ferrando. John graduated from Mellen High School in 1956 and served in the US Army as a medic. On May 16, 1959, he married Dorothy Evelyn Vought.

John worked for Northern States Power for 34 years and retired in 1992.

John was a talented wood craftsman and enjoyed making furniture and cutting boards. He made beautiful rocking chairs and step stools for all his grandchildren. He was a gifted carpenter and could also do everything from plumbing to electrical. John was always there when someone needed a helping hand. In his free time and in retirement, he enjoyed having cook outs with his family, traveling with his wife Dorothy, enjoyed collecting coins, and loved gardening.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Ruth (Augustine) Ferrando, his wife Dorothy, in 2017; brother Ray 2024.

He is survived by five children; Terry (Tom) Jokinen, Peter (Lisa) Ferrando, Paula (Michael) Flatley, Doreen (Jason) Schoenborn, and Debra (Chad) Beirl; 19 grandchildren, Audrey, Emiley, Whitney, Lee, Luke, Lilly, Ryan, Hillary, Christina, Hannah, Nicholas, Nathan, Emma, Zachary, Courtney, Megan, Ricky, Matthew, and Anthony; twenty great-grandchildren. One sister Linda Thompson.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
