Luverne Plucinski Obituary
December 2, 1938 - September 29, 2025
Luverne "Sis" Plucinski, age 86 of Ashland, WI passed away peacefully on Monday, September 29, 2025. Luverne was born on December 2, 1938 in Ashland, the daughter of Francis and Helen (Wesley) Mayotte.
After graduating high school in Ashland, Sis moved to Chicago, IL for work, where she married Charles "Chuck"Plucinski and started a family. Sis worked for many years in Chicago before they moved back home to the Ashland/Odanah area. She worked for the Great Lakes Intertribal Council in Odanah, then later for the Bad River Tribe in the Social Services Department for many years. She later became the Director of Social Services and remained in that position until she retired. Sis enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and attending all of their various school and sporting events. As a member of the Bad River Tribe, Sis also enjoyed hunting, fishing and ricing with her family. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake and St. Mary's Catholic Church.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Linda Polson) Plucinski of Odanah, daughter Leanne (James) Thannum of Ashland, son-in-law Curtis (the late Valerie) Greene ofAshland, granddaughters Melanie Plucinski, Kristen Thannum, and Peyton Greene; grandsons Charles Thannum, Ethan Greene and Gavin Greene; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husbandChuck, her daughter Valerie, her parents, sister Nancy Plucinski Wilmer, brother Richard (Lad) Mayotte, and her very moody feline companion of 18 years, Kiki.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 3, 2025 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Odanah WI, with Fr. Jerome D'Souza as celebrant.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at the Mountain Funeral Home from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. There will also be a visitation at the church on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Interment will be at the Odanah, WI Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Mountain Funeral Home of Ashland, WI.
