Dan was a great example for me. He helped me and my young family a lot when I was in graduate school. I was a new homeowner with twin daughters on the way. I had a plumbing problem and Dan offered to come help me fix it since I didn't really know anything about plumbing at the time. I remember standing in that small basement with him both of us covered in raw sewage and I said, "I hate plumbing." With his way with few, but very impactful words, Dan said something that both helped me keep things in perspective, as well as provide a great moment of humor. After a long pause, he said, "I love plumbing. I just hate working on it." He was a man of great compassion and wisdom. I miss my friend.
