Derek Boals Obituary
He was the son of Donald Lee Hudnell and the late Joy Boals. He was born May 18, 1981, at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital.
He attended Beacon School and took music lessons for twenty years. He played the banjo. He belonged to Passion Works and Atco.
He is survived by his father, Donald Lee Hudnell; a half-sister, Michelle Khatri of Florida; and a half-brother, Anthony Lonas of the Plains.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Joy Boals; his maternal grandparents, Mildred and Tom Salyers; and his paternal grandparents, Mildred and Charles Hudnell.
Graveside Services will be held Friday, June 29, 2018, at 2 p.m. at McDougal cemetery with Rev. Phil Foster officiating. Services are under the direction of Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, Athens.

Derek was the sweetest soul I have ever met. He always greated me with a smile. He got that from his mom, who we all miss dearly. I am glad to have to have know him and become his family. I will never forget him ❤

I was so sad to hear about Derek's passing. I ran the kitchen at Beacon for a few years. Derek was by far my favorite worker. He had such an ornery personality. I will always cherish my memories of Derek. Thank you for sharing him with me.

Don, Michelle and T and family: I worked with Joy for many years at OMH and we had many laughs over Derek's antics! I know Joy was so proud of his accomplishments and she always shared photos he took! I am so sorry for your loss and I know he will be greatly missed!
