I fondly remember learning the 50 states in fifth grade thanks to Mrs. Gallaway's creative teaching methods. I even use them in my own classroom now to help my students when we are using maps in science class. My son is a fifth grader this year and I'm excited to pass on Mrs. Gallaway's fun mnemonic devices with him. She was a wonderful teacher and will be greatly missed.

Fondly remember 5th grade with her! Going on my 26th year teaching now, most of it at 5th grade myself! She shaped many of my teaching philosophies.

This makes me so sad. She was one of the only teachers I ever had who made me feel like I was good enough. My thoughts are with the family. She was a kind person who took so much time to help me believe in myself. I'll never forget learning and memorizing the states and their Capitals. She was a gem and her impact on my life is far reaching.

We have known both Gladys and Lowell Gallaway for the last 50 years. Lowell and Raj koshal have been colleagues at the Department of Economics. Gladys taught fifth grade children at Morrison Elementary School. Our both children Vinita and Vipin were her students and both have fond memories of her. She was a great inspirer Manju and Gladys had coffee get togethers many times at each other's homes. She was a gracious, hospitable, loving and charming host with a big heart. Also a great cook. We still remember their Lawn parties every Summer.
Later after Lowell passed away, we visited her home to convey our sympathies and one could see that she has lost her vigor and dynamite personality due to age and medical issues. But she still was very lively and shared with us all albums and Lowell's paintings. It was that time she shared with us about how she is being taken good care by our son-Vipin Koshal who is now a cardiologist

We were sad to learn about the passing away of our dear friend Gladys Gallaway. Both Lowell and Gladys have been our friends for more than fifty years. Raj and Lowell were colleagues at the department of Economics and Gladys taught our children at Morrison Elementary in the fifth grade. Both Vinita and Vipin have fond memories of her. Later after retirement also we continued meeting in potluck dinners, dinners at each other's homes and coffee parties. Gladys was a gracious host, loving and charming person-always smiling and had a big heart. Their annual Summer Lawn party was a hit. She was a great cook too.
Later, with age and falling health, one could see Gladys losing her dynamic personality and vigor. Nevertheless, she still greeted all with open arms. When we visited her after Lowell's death at her home, she shared with us all his albums and we reminisced the old days as we went throrugh the pages. It was at this time that she surprised us by taking us to the basement where all Lowells paintings were beautifully organized on the wall. It was a museum. We were taken by surprise as we never knew he painted too besides being a scholar.
The most surprising part was when she showed us a huge painting beutifully framed in golden color that had our eight years' old daughter -Vinita along with her friend and Kathy -their oldest daughter all dressed up and kneeling down with her wedding gown. Gladys insisted that we take the painting which is now hanging on our dining room wall.
Gladys that time also shared with us how well she has been taken care of by our son-Vipin who is now a cardiologist at the O'Bleness Hospital working with Ohio Health. Gladys also shared how Vipin convinced her to go for a Pacemaker when she was resisting to get it done at Riverside. Viipin that time was completing his Residency at the Riverside Hospital at Columbus-Ohio. Our daughter-in-law Bela who is also a Physician, remembers Gladys vividly.
Our son remembers her fondly and was sad and moved to know that she is no more!
We will always remember the Gallaways and will miss them We indeed have lost two great friends.
On behalf of our children-Vinita, Vipin and Bela and us we pray for peace for the departed soul in heaven.
With our deepest sympathies to the entire Gallaway family,
Professors Manju & Raj Koshal, Ms. Vinita Kennedy and Drs. Vipin & Bela Koshal.

My deepest sympathies to the Gallaway family. I have many fond memories of Mrs. Gallaway. Her enthusiasm for teaching still sticks with me. Her state chants have proven handy for me in many trivia games. I developed a love of history in her classroom as well. She was one the major influences on my choice to become an educator. Her impact is far reaching.

What a great teacher and person. Gladys taught both our kids then. Gladys sent a card to my son when he graduated from HS seven years later. My wife knew Gladys from volunteering at the school years ago. Lowell taught my son at OU. Condolences to the family.

Gladys was a wonderful teacher for my first child. I was very happy when she did not retire before she could also teach the second one 8 years later. She always had such interesting projects and ways for the kids to learn.

Mrs. Gallaway impacted my learning so much. I enjoyed learning. I enjoyed our pioneer day. She was definitely one of a kind teacher. Besides being a teacher, I knew her outside the classroom as she was my moms girl scout leader back in the day. And my mom is friends with her daughter. May Gladys rest easy.

Mrs. Gallaway was an excellent teacher, and I remember her with great affection. She had high standards, but was always patient with her students, and made learning fun and interesting. I remember her warmth and enthusiasm when I managed to memorize the Gettysburg address. I always had the feeling that she was an active supporter of her students, instead of just passively putting in her time at the school. Those are the best kinds of teachers.
Later in life, my father played bridge with her, and found her charming and bright. She definitely seemed to have an insatiable love for learning, and life.
My condolences to the family.

Gallaway Family,
Jane and I were saddened to learn of Gladys’ passing. She was an excellent teacher at Morrison Elementary who focused on children learning basic skills while she enriched the curriculum for all students. Young people were taught how to write, research, and speak on historical and current topics in her social studies classes.
Gladys made education interesting, challenging, and relevant for young people.
She encouraged them to be active participants in student council elections and local campaigns.
Thank you, Gladys for your dedication and service to the students at Morrison Elementary School.
