John Gloeckner Obituary

Athens John F. "Jack" Gloeckner, 78 of Athens passed away at home peacefully Tuesday October 14, 2025.

A lifelong resident of Athens, he retired after 33 years from Ohio University. Jack loved his family

and friends, going to Movies 10 and watching wrestling. He was a member of Christ the King Church.

Jack is proceeded in death by his parents Lewis R. and Viola "Vicky" Riley Gloeckner and Mother-in-law

Margie Keiffer.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Sharon and a brother Dale (Lisa) Gloeckner, children Ken (Tracy) Thompson,

Brock (Pennie) Gloeckner, Brent (Michaela "Mikey") Gloeckner and Heather (Steve) Yerian; Also 3 grandchildren

Heather, Bub and Amber, 2 step grandchildren Amanda (Josh) and James (Beth). Jack also shared a special bond with Dale and Lisa's Honorary grandchildren Zack and Kara whom he loved as if they were his own,

sending them off to school every day with his knowledge and wisdom.

The family would like to thank Ohio Health Hospice Care of Athens for their excellent care, and a special friend Debbie.

No calling hours will be observed. Mass of Christian Burial will be at Christ the King Church on Tuesday October 21,2025, at 10:30 A.M. Officiated by Msgr. Donald Horak, where family and friends can pay their respects. Burial will be in

Alexander Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made the Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home, for funeral expenses.
