I was blessed to have been allowed to hang with Karen for 27 months. sounds like such a short time for Her to rank amongst the top 3 friends of my life.
The Karen I know may not be the one you do and that's alright because after reading the comments, I recognize her in all of them.
Karen NEVER failed to make me laugh. she had to be the most generous, caring individual who loved her friends, family, her country, O.U. Bobcats, and HER HIGHERPOWER. Karen was wonderfully opinionated and her eccentricities allowed her the ability to share the most wonerful stories.
Karen had aversions to deer droppings in Bob West yard, hedges that weren't trimmed to perfection, Slackers and maybe most of all LEAVES. Leaves disturbed her peace of mind when they were anywhere other than on the tree. and I heard her wonder out loud more then once, why her HIGHER-POWER allowed so many to accumulate in her yard, WHEN SHE HAD NO TREES!
But When she loved, she loved with her whole heart. Her favorite topic was her beloved brother Jerry. She Never spoke badly about any of her family but her brother was so special to her. His sense of humor, his knowledge, the gentle humerous way he had of chastising her and most of all the bond they shared. It seemed to me he was her best friend , her protector and she loved him with her whole heart .
Karen left me with the silliest stuffed chicken head I call Henny and with these instructions.
Every morning when I get up, Henny is there to remind me to tell myself , loudly, with feeling , " OPEN UP YOUR HEART AND LET THE SUNSHINE IN."
She promised my day would be much better for it. And made me promise not to be a SLACKER.
To say I think of her daily would not be lie. Henny sits at my bedroom door. im not always smiling after repeating her mantra. She left an empty space In my heart. I miss her terribly . We had too little time.
safe journey , Karen

I am privileged to have known Karen and her mother Gyneth through our both working at Alden Library for many years. Though we worked in different areas Karen was good friend, always thoughtful, reliable, and helpful if anything came up. The world has gained from her living on it but has lost a bit of kindness and good humor. Rest in Piece Karen.

I worked with Karen for many years at Alden Library- she was one of my favorite people to work along side, and I considered her a good friend. Always so thoughtful, kind and had a great sense of humor. Never forgot birthdays, and was always thinking of others. She will be greatly missed.

I knew Karen as a very hard working, and helpful person. So kind to elderly co-workers, and so supportive of her longtime partner during his long decline.
I am very sorry to know she is gone.

Karen was one of the kindest, gentlest people I've ever known. I worked with her many years at Alden Library, prior to her retirement. A true helper, friend, encourager and thoughtful, loving person. The world is a little colder with her gone. My sincerest condolences.

Karen was a thoughtful person and never missed my birthday. We spent many of our work breaks walking and talking. Miss those times and Karen.
