Robert Heidler

ATHENS - Robert S. "Bob" Heidler, 83 of Alanson, Michigan formerly of Athens died Saturday evening, Aug. 27, 2016 at Highlands, Northport, Michigan. Born Sept. 30, 1932 in Athens, he was the son of the late Joseph Bunn Heidler and Lois Springer Heidler.
Bob was a 1950 graduate of Athens High School, a 1954 graduate of Ohio University and completed his education with a master degree in library science from the University of Michigan in 1968. He was a reference librarian at Bowling Green State University where he retired after 30 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1954 to 1956.
Bob was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Athens and Burt Lake Christian Church in Burt Lake, Michigan, Ohio University Alumni Association and Bowling Green State University Emeriti Association. Beginning in 1942, Bob was a summer resident at his family cabin on Burt Lake, Michigan and eventually became a full time resident.
Bob is survived by many friends and associates.
Funeral service will be conducted Saturday 11 a.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens with Rev. Robert Martin officiating. Burial will be in West Union St. Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday 10 a.m until time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 9 N.
