Virgil Reeves Obituary

Albany Virgil Lewis Reeves, 83, of Albany, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025, in Saint Marys, Georgia, surrounded by his son and daughter. He was born December 10, 1941, in Scipio Township, Ohio, to the late Alice Mae (Lambert) Reeves and Granville Lewis Reeves. Born just three days after the attack on Pearl Harbor, his children find it deeply ironic and meaningful that he passed on Pearl Harbor Day.

Virgil was preceded in death by his wife, Diane Irvin Reeves; his sister, Jenny Steele; and his brother, Harry Reeves.

A proud veteran, Virgil honorably served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era and later in the United States Army. He was a member of the Albany AMVETS, Albany Masonic Lodge #723, Athens Eastern Star #175, Athens Chapter #39, Royal Arch Masons, Athens Council #15, Royal and Select Masons, Athens Commandery #15, Knights Templar, and the Valley of Gallipolis, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite.

He is survived by his children: Karen Reeves of Bradner, Ohio; Andrew Reeves of Albany, Ohio; and Lynda Irvin (John Trawick) of Saint Marys, Georgia; his sister, Joan (Fred) Steele of Albany, Ohio; his brother, Earl (Cheryl) Reeves of Albany, Ohio; five grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Virgil was an avid aviation enthusiast and enjoyed spending mornings with friends over coffee at the Ohio University Airport. He also took great pleasure in chair volleyball at the Albany Senior Center.

Virgil will be remembered for his service, his loyalty, his humor, and the many stories he shared throughout his life.

A memorial will be arranged at a later time. Virgil Reeves
