James Nygard Obituary
TEMPLETON, MA — It is with great sadness that the family of James Ronald Nygard announces his death on September 17, 2021 at the age of 87 years. Jim passed away at this home surrounded by his loving family.
James "Jimmy" was born on September 21, 1933 in Templeton, MA, the son of the late Everett Nygard, Sr. and the late Anna (Rosbury) Nygard. Jimmy grew up in Templeton and later moved to Gardner with his family, where they had a dairy farm. James married Agnes E. Risatti on February 27, 1954.
James was a professional truck driver / owner-operator. He drove for numerous local companies and eventually retired from Linden Motorfreight of Linden, NJ. While driving James also owned and operated a dairy farm in Gardner for several years, before moving to Templeton in 1969. In Templeton he raised dairy and beef cattle, made and sold a lot of hay, and at one time his farm had over 150 registered sheep.
He leaves behind his wife Agnes, one daughter, Dr. Cheryl Ann Nygard and her husband Eric Hill of Templeton. He leaves three grandsons, John Michael of Arlington, VA, Eric James, and Andrew Charles of Templeton. He leaves one sister, Ann Ouellette and her husband Vernon of Gardner. He also leaves a life long best friend and neighbor, Walter J. Lawrence of Templeton. He was predeceased by four brothers, Everett Jr., Charles, Richard, and Roger Nygard. Charles was killed in action during WWII.
A Mass will be held on Monday, October 18th, 2021 at 10 AM in Holy Cross Church, 26 Lake Avenue, East Templeton, MA. Following the Mass a Celebration of Life will be held at the P.A.C.C. at 171 Kendall Pond Road West in Gardner. Burial will be at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made in his name to the National FFA organization (Future Farmers of America) at 6060 FFA Drive PO BOX 68960 Indianapolis, IN 46268-0960.
A special thanks to family, friends, and neighbors for their support. All the flowers, cards, calls, and meals were deeply appreciated.
