Family-Placed Death Notice

Adele Tedone Galke Harrison, 77, of Marietta, died January 1, 2004. Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2004, at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home, Marietta, GA. Burial will be at Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery, Marietta, GA. Mrs. Harrison was born in Manhattan, New York and was a resident of Georgia since 1966. She was a life long lover of music and sang with a professional choir in New York City during WWII. A world traveler she cruised with her first husband, Henry, and traveled Europe and the Far East with her second husband, Roger. She worked as a secretary for a dean at Southern Polytechnic School and as a teacher's aid in reading at Marietta Middle School. She volunteered her services at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital and as a tour guide at the Governors Mansion in Atlanta. She was an accomplished needle worker, decorator, gardener and photographer. In her whole life she never met a stranger. She was the widow of Henry W. Galke and Roger H. Harrison. Survivors include two sons, Dennis R. Galke of Atlanta, GA; William Harrison of Olympia, WA; daughter, Sue Cummins & husband, Felmer of Kennesaw; three sisters, Pauline Tandy of Berlin, CT; Maria Wood and Vonda Borgersen both of Panama City Beach, FL; four grandchildren, Felmer Cummins, Jr. & wife, Lori of Canton; Brande Cummins McDonald & husband, Shane of Macon; Samantha Cummins of Acworth; Mark Harrison of Las Vegas, NV; two great grandchildren, Lauren & Margaret Cummins of Lawrenceville. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Disease & Related Disorders, 1841 Clifton Road, N.E., Atlanta, Georgia 30329.Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta is in charge of arrangements.
