Bruce Feiman Obituary

FEIMAN, Bruce Bradley "Bud"

Bruce Bradley "Bud" Feiman passed away peacefully at his home in Atlanta on Monday, September 6. He was born on May 9, 1930 to Anne Miller and Alle Feiman in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He attended the University of Wisconsin, earning a BBA in 1952. After basic training in the army, he was stationed in Germany during the Cold War. Upon returning home in 1954, he entered the Junior Executive Training program with Gimble's Department Store in Milwaukee. In 1957, he married Bea Hirsch of Atlanta. After living in Milwaukee for six months, Bud was invited by Morris Hirsch, his father-in-law, to join Hirsch's men's clothing stores, the oldest retail business in Atlanta at the time. With the opening of the Lenox Square store in 1959, Hirsch's expanded to seven stores. With the passing of Morris Hirsch, Bud became the President of Hirsch's, representing the 4th generation in the business. Bud also served the menswear industry at the national level as a board member of the Menswear Retailers of America, the American Institute of Men and Boy's Wear, and the National Association of Men's Sportswear Buyers, which at the time provided the largest buying market for men's wear in the country. Civic minded, Bud worked on the first two Forward Atlanta campaigns, and participated in Leadership Atlanta. He was a member of and became president of both the American Business Club (AMBUC) and the Whitehead Boy's Club of Atlanta. When the boards of all clubs combined as the Fulton County Boys and Girls Clubs, he joined that board and served the total organization for over 50 years. He was also a 62-year member of The Temple on Peachtree Street. He and his wife, Bea, served as co-directors of the Zaban Paradies Center for Homeless Couples. Bud loved to travel; he was a prolific reader and a history buff with a keen interest in Atlanta history. He was well known and loved for his famous "clipping service," scouring the Atlanta Journal Constitution for articles that would be appreciated by family and friends. But above all, Bud loved his family. He was an adoring husband, father and grandfather. Bud is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bea Hirsch Feiman, two sons, Bradley Hirsch Feiman (Arden) and Alan Bruce Feiman (Lynn) and five grandchildren, Ellie, Courtney Beard (Jordan), M.E., David and Ginna Miller (Zach). A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 10 at 2 PM at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Temple, the Fulton County Boys and Girls Club, The Jewish Educational Loan Fund, or a charity of your choice. I remember talking with Bud about his commitment to Boys and Girls Clubs of Atlanta and his work with disadvantaged kids. His commitment to these clubs was absolute.

I am so sad to learn of Bud´s passing. He was a wonderful human being with a kind heart and a wicked sense of humor. I´m sure he was a father figure to everyone he met. I know he was for me. I shall miss him. Godspeed, Bud! May your memory always be a blessing to all who knew you. To the family, there´s very little that l can do, at this point, but, if there is anything l can do or any way in which l can be of help, l am here for you all.
