Cathy Mickle Obituary


Family-Placed Death Notice

Cathy Ann Mickle departed this life on January 8, 2004 in Shanghai, China where she worked as a professor of English at the Shanghai Sanda University. She used this opportunity to introduce Christianity to her students and her community and lived as a selfless example for others. She was a member of NewSong Community Church in Cumming, GA. Embracing her dedication to the Chinese people and to her mission work there, she chose to be buried in China. A Memorial Service will be held at NewSong Community Church located at 230 Elm Street, Cumming, GA. (located in the Central Plaza Center, across the street from Forsyth Central High School) at 2:00PM on Saturday, January 10, 2004. A reception will follow the service. Cathy is survived by her mother, Barbara Hurd Mickle of Cumming, GA; her sister, Ellen Mickle Cobb of Mobile, AL; and her brothers, Walter Kevin Mickle and his wife Lorrie of Conyers, GA., and Todd Andrew Mickle and his wife Darci of Greenwood Village, CO. Cathy was predeceased by her father, Walter Fairfax Mickle. Cathy is further survived by the following nieces and nephews: Kristin Johnson, Kelly Cobb, Matthew Cobb, Cory Mickle, Nichole Mickle, and Chloe Mickle. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Educational Services International (the Mickle Fund) at 444 East Huntington Drive, Suite 200, Arcadia, CA. 91006 (tel 626-294-9400) to continue her work in China.
