Charles Windish Obituary
Edward
Charles Edward Windish, 72, an American educator and long-time resident of Thailand, passed away peacefully after an illness at his Bangkok home on November 26, 2025. He was born on August 20, 1953, in Anchorage, Alaska, to John Edward Windish and Lois Jane Porter.
His professional legacy was in advocating for and building standards in language education. In 1978, he began his career at the Language Institute at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. He retired from Georgia Tech in 2003.
After retiring in the U.S., he began a new chapter in education in Thailand, where he served from 2004 to 2015 as Program Director of English Studies, and later as Associate Dean for International Affairs at Mahidol University International College in Bangkok.
He is survived by his spouse, Toby Wai-Tak To. Charles is also survived by his brother, John "Jack" Windish; and his sister, Barbara Windish.
