David FOSTER Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

FOSTER, David David Foster, 57, of Woodstock, GA passed away in his home, Saturday, January 4, 2104. David was born in West Palm Beach, FL, then spent his youth in both Greenville, SC, and Charlotte, NC. David grew up with his parents and two sisters. It was in Charlotte that he met his wife, Peg, at age 16. They virtually grew up as sweethearts, married at 22, and have been married 35 beautiful years. They have no children, but have had many beloved Labrador Retrievers. It was in Charlotte that David also began his radio career. That career also took him to other stations in Virginia, Georgia, and North Carolina. In Atlanta, as Commander Dave Foster, David was part of Y106's Morning Zoo Crew. He loved music, and loved creating entertaining and innovative avenues for people to enjoy. David was touched by several charitable organizations over the years, and enjoyed using his celebrity to bring attention to them. He also used that influence to support up and coming musicians. David's other passion was the outdoors, and after leaving radio, he pursued that passion. He worked in the promotion and marketing of outdoor television, archery and bowhunting. At one time, he managed Chevy's pro fishing staff. He loved bringing entertainment to people, and teaching and sharing his love of the outdoors. This career took him across the country where he developed many lasting friendships across the U.S. In the last few years, as David battled cancer, he still brought his entertaining spirit to the oncology center that treated him, and everyone there could count on his upbeat personality and sense of humor to accompany him to treatments. David Foster passed away on Saturday January 4, 2014 at his residence. Visitation will be Friday, January 10 from 5PM-8PM with a Prayer Service at 6:30 PM at the Darby Funeral Home. Memorial services are scheduled for 12:00 Noon on Saturday, January 11 at Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Woodstock. Father Paul Moreau will be officiating. For those wishing to make a donation in lieu of flowers, donations can be made at www.lovingarmscanceroutreach.com.
