David and Dee were friends and patients of my husband ,Dr. Linton Bishop ,who died just before David . I am sorry not to have been able to express in person my respect ,and fondness for him and Dee and admiration for what they accomplished for thousands of children . Her papers for our History Class were classics especially those on fairy tales . You have much of which to be proud . June Rowan Bishop

My Grandson attended the the Schenck school for two years. And then graduated to go back into public school. The same public school that could not teach him to read. He has this year, scored the highest of any student on the schools reading test. Dr. Schenck has had any impact on so many people and has been such an inspiration. Blessings to him and his family. What a great man!

My late husband, Karel den Tex and David went to pre-school together in Chappaqua and some years later attended Horace Greeley High School for a year before he returned to Holland. More recently they had share hikes on several sections of the Appalachian Trail and visits in Mystic, Ct David was a great friend - always tuned in, always generous and helpful - he talked with Karel just a week before his death in August and they said farewell. Dr. Schenck was my daughter's teacher in the mid-70s. My husband and I were grateful that a teacher like Dr. Schenck would dedicate his life in touch a meaningful way. We thank his family in his memory. Truly, he lived an extraordinary, giving life among us. B. Griffin

I am so sorry for your loss and am so happy you all had such a wonderful, smart, kind and caring father. I wish I could have gone to the Schenck school or some similar type of school for people who have a hard time learning. However, I am grateful that I had your father's daughter Margaret in my class who helped me with my studies. She was patient and kind too. Although I did not know your dad well, I have been lucky enough to have known all four of his children. My thoughts are with you all.

I have fond memories of him when I was a student at Galloway. He would serve as a chaperone at various events with his son. He once sat through a never ending biology lesson at Fernbank when he drove our class there.

My son attended Schenck and was overjoyed when Mr. Schenck came for Founders Day. He dressed up as a 50s character and burst through the door and said, Mr. Schenck said I looked supercool. He had an aura of light and love, and I will be forever grateful for him creating a school that saved my son's confidence, and his life. I know Mr. Schenck is one of God's special angels now. Sorry for your loss. Mary Reese
