Doris Byrd Obituary
Doris Virginia Hubbard Byrd, age 78, passed away on January 26, 2021, from a massive heart attack. She was born on September 10,1942 in Lafayette, Alabama and lived in Atlanta Georgia. She was a retired educator for Atlanta Public School System. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend. She is survived by sons, Bobby F. Byrd Jr. and Carlos M. Byrd (Brenda); daughters, Sonya Byrd-Joyner, Jaelinne B. Mason, and JoTonya B. Willis; best friend, Barbara Ash. She will truly be missed. Cards or flowers can be sent to JoTonya at 105 Walnut Ridge Way, Covington, GA 30014. Virtual services TBD.

Hello Doris, I did not realize that its been 4 years since I last saw you. I still have so many fun memories of our friendship and the times we spent together. I know that these things will live in my heart and mind as long as i continue to breathe. You were and still is my best friend. I truly miss you so much, because I don't have that place to go on Saturday afternoons to sit and talk with you. You truly made a difference in my life having someone to share secrets and just laugh and talk to. May you continue to rest in peace knowing that your friend will never forget you.

It´s been 2 long years since you left for heaven. I think about you all the times! It was a very solemn Thanksgiving Day for me this year. I missed hearing about your sweet potato pies baked for the family and that good ole Honey

Good Sunday morning, Doris. I cant call you on the phone, so I decided to to talk to you this way. Again, I find myself constantly searching for your calls, but still fail to understand that they have stopped. Ms. Shortt called me some days ago. She was in shock to learn of your passing. She praised our friendship and stated that she had always admire how close we were and our respect for each other. She brought tears to my eyes again . I miss you friend!

I think about you daily Mama! I really wished we could have visited you in the hospital while you were coherent. I’m sorry that you had to experience so much pain! I’m sorry that you had to be alone during your stay at the hospital! I truly believe that the presence of our family visiting you would have prevented you from worrying about anything! The last day I spoke with you, it sounded like you were struggling to breath. You told me you would call me back around 5 that day. I knew something wasn’t right! I felt it! We had such a strong bond! I could always tell when you were worried or bothered by something! I will forever cherish our MOTHER & DAUGHTER BOND! I LOVE YOU MAMA! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! I met "Mama Byrd" through my boyfriend "Q" who took care of her lawn for years.
