On the eve of the morning my dear, dear friend found peace and joy--earned at great cost after much suffering. I join with her sons, Doug Jr. and James in missing her, but I, like they, do not begrudge her the ending of a life well spent.

Edna played the piano at my wedding 56 years ago in a little Methodist church in Newington, GA. Her father, the Rev. J. Hamby Barton and his wife had “adopted” me while I was a student at GSCW (now Georgia College and University) and “Pa” Barton was pastor of the First Methodist Church in Milledgeville. They were “Pa” and “Ma” Barton to me and hundreds of students in this country and abroad. Edna was an accomplished musician and an avid reader. She was so proud of her two sons, both of whom are professional singers. Doug and James, your family was an inspiration to me.

I am so proud that I was a member of such a wonderful family for more than 50 years.

Doug and James, your family was an inspiration to me.

I was taught in chorus class and directed in Girls' Chorus by Mrs. Robinson at Lakeshore High in the mid-1960s. Her quiet, steady nature brought out the best in her students. She was a career role model for me, too, as I will soon retire with forty years of high school teaching experience. Mrs. Robinson's beautiful spirit was a lasting inspiration to me. To her family, my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

I loved Mrs Robinson. She was a great teacher and everyone respected her soft spoken teaching methods. She had a sweet smile and was a class act! She had an impact on many lives and I was one of them! Hapeville High was fortunate to have her.

Mrs. Robinson taught me several English classes at Hapeville High and is fondly remembered. It is sad her passing but wonderful to know she had such a long and full life. What a gracious soul.
