Family-Placed Death Notice

Mrs. Elise Oelsner Kahn, age 92 of Atlanta, beloved sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend died Saturday, October 30, 2004. Born in Quitman, GA on February 7, 1912, she was a long-time Atlanta resident, having moved here at the age of 17 with her family in 1929. Mrs. Kahn was a graduate of Girls High in Atlanta. A life-long learner, she received her bachelors degree e with distinction in English from Georgia State University( then known as Georgia Evening College) in 1971. For many years she was an active member of The Temple. Mrs. Kahn also taught literacy skills to school-age children, adults and immigrants. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Kahn and is survived by her daughter, Beverly; her brother, Julius Oelsner, grandson, Richard Jordan; as well as several nieces, nephews and many cousins. Graveside services will be held Sunday, October 31 at 1:30 p.m. at Crest Lawn Memorial Park with Rabbi Jeffrey Salkin officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Kahnss memory may be made to The Temple Early Learning Center or the Esther Bleisch Scholarship Fund c/o the Temple 1589 Peachtree Street Atlanta, GA 30309.
