TAUFFNER, Elizabeth

Elizabeth Tauffner, 98, passed away on September 29, 2021 in Atlanta, GA. Most knew her as Betty Jane Bell. She was a much loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Betty was born on December 12, 1922 in Wayne, NY to Lorenzo Bernard and Elizabeth Youngman Bel. She married Gilbert E. Tauffner in April of 1946. She graduated from the University of Buffalo, earning a Master's degree in Home Economics. She was a member Epsilon Sorority and a representative in the Apple Blossom Festival. Betty loved sewing and taught the Bishop Method of sewing most of her life.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Gilbert E. Tauffner, who passed away eleven months prior. She is survived by her daughter, Nanette L. Shealy (Eric Johnson); grandchildren, Zach Hobbs, Eric Shealy (Miranda), Meredith Shealy Wilson (Chris); great-granddaughter, Rowan Shealy; niece, Carolynne Merrill and nephew, Eric Walsh.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 12:00 pm at H.M. Patterson & Son – Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, with Rev. Jarod Workman officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs, GA.
