Not sure what to say?

March 29, 2009

To my mentor, my father figure, my Judo coach, today (Sunday, March 29,2009) I fought in tournament in York,Pennsylvania. Just before I approached the mat, My mom reminded me of your one year anniversary of being with the Lord. At that moment, I felt your spirit come upon me and could hear you say, "come on Big Boy, let's go do it". While studying at the University of Colorado and training in the Olympic Training Center there, I encounter your presence and it's all showing up as I win that "GOLD". Oh by the way, Chris, Gill, and the rest are all doing their thing. I know you are proud of us but not as proud as we are of you. R.I.P. and let your spirit be with us always. Love You...Your Boy Colin Robinson.

It is hard to believe that it has been a year since Eugene has been called by God. Every time I think of his name I smile because I think of his smile. I miss my friend of 50 years! May God continue to bless his family.

Daddy, I can’t believe it has been a year since the Lord called you home. This year has been a roller coaster ride of emotions. I miss hearing your voice and the way you use to cup my head as you kissed me on my forehead. Daddy, I miss you so much! I still carry the keepsake poem that you gave me on Valentine’s Day in my wallet. It reminds me of the love and bond we shared for almost 36 years. Tell Grandma Pete that I miss her too! I still hear her laughing and talking on the phone in the background. My life is so different now. Who do I talk to about my boyfriends? Heaven is a playground now! You are probably teaching basketball, football, judo, or giving someone some great advice. Oh, by the way, you will be a granddaddy soon. No, I’m not pregnant. I already told you that I might give you a son-in-law but never a grandchild. Scooter is expecting a son next month. My prayers are with him always. Well, daddy, I will talk to you soon! I love you!

To My Friend "Big Gene", Remembering your birthday January 11. Your adopted Judo baby boy "Colin" has turned 18 on January 17th. He is now enrolled in University of Colorada at Colorado Springs. You would be so proud of him because he is training at the Olympic Training Center with Eddie Liddie. Of course, he gives you and God the Glory. I know in your spirit, you know about his accomplishment in Thailand in October, 2008. We miss you sooooooo much!! May your spirit be with Colin always. Continue to guide him in all that he sets out to do. Love You forever: Tuesday Henry (Best Judo Mom)

To the Goodson Family whose strength, warmth and sincerity always made me proud to carry the last name . You have my deepest sympathy. At age 15 i met June and instantly he became a big brother to me and my friend Phyllis. So his story became to everyone we came in contact with was that he helped raise me from a little girl. As fate would have it, 20 years later i became his sister-inlaw, a title i was proud to hold. I will miss his smile, his jokes and being able to tease him about his big plate of food. I know you'll be joking with Dad and teaching Terico about Judo and sports. And your nephew will know a good uncle and a good man. My heart is filled with sadness, but also i have Joy in my heart for having known you.

Always and Forever

To Elton and the rest of the family, my prayer is that God give you comfort and peace during this difficult time. "June" was a great man and a great teammate at Price HS. I admired his quiet strength and could always go to him for advice (and protection (smile)) while at Price. I saw him recently and he was the same guy I remembered. God has called him from labor to reward. I, like you will miss him, but it's great to know that he's safe in God's arms. I pray God's strength and blessings to the family and friends of June Goodson. To Bernice, Lil Gene and host of other Goodson family members:

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Eugene entered our families’ lives more than 18 years ago. From that meeting, the unwavering connection between our families has seized to be broken.

We will forever cherish the bounty of love and adoration Gene unconditionally bestowed on our son Julian and countless other young girls and boys. The memories of our sons growing-up and maturing together will always be a treasured part of our lives.

May God continue to bless all of you.

Gene I will miss you so much, I appreciate everything you have done for me and my family, I am still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that you are no longer physically here. I feel so good that you are smiling and at peace. You showed me how a man is suppose to behave and treat a Lady! I watched you growing up supporting my sister, your children and me! You were Daddy to me too even though you were my brother-in-law! Big Gene can not teach my babies Judo now as we talked about earlier, nor can you scare them into thinking you are taking them home with you. Our tongue can only imagine the taste of your turkey wings and fine cooking! Your Big arms are no longer here to comfort and your soft spoken voice is no longer here to instruct, but all the seeds you planted are deep within my heart and I will never let them go. Tell Pete, MaMa, Daddy, and Curti-Boy all about Michael and Michelle!

We all would be so fortunate and blessed to leave such a legacy as Junior has left with all of us. Junior will always be remembered as a kind man who always carried a smile for everyone. I am comforted to know that he's in heaven watching over my children, the children in our church and the world. He loved children so much and it definitely showed because there was nothing he would not do for them. Continue to keep them in line Junior. Your presence will definitely be missed but never forgotten.

God Bless you all,

Goodson Family, we hope this poem helps to bring you a little peace......

The Broken Chain

We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name,
In life we loved you dearly, in death we'll do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone.
For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

I was just sitting at home watching some old judo tapes with my mom Della and younger brother Marcques. I couldn't help but feel the rush of emotions when thinking about a man who gave something that could never be measured. He truely was a man not afraid to give of his time, discipline (whenever it was needed) and his love. Although he may not be here with us, his WAKA MU SHA spirit and legacy lives on through his students and all those who were blessed to know him. I'll always love you Mr. Eugene.

You will be missed to the extreme. It is so hard to believe that we were just sitting on the same pew at church Easter Sunday to know that you have went home to live with God. I am also glad that now you can make it to everyone of Tyriq's game in spirit and I know that you will be looking down on him. As you did in church keep him in line for me when I can't see him. Words can't express the sorrow that the Henry family and my grandson Colin Robinson is experiencing as we deal with the death of such a wonderful man "Big Gene" as we so passionately speak of him. Sensei Gene
I DONT KNOW WHERE TO START ON TALKING ABOUT YOU. FOR 12 YEARS YOU HAVE BEEN MY COACH, FRIEND, MENTOR, CONFIDANT, AND FATHER FIGURE. THIS IS SO HARD FOR ME TO DEAL WITH WHEN I FIRST HEARD I POURED MY EYES OUT. THEN I REALIZED THAT I NEEDED TO STOP SO I CAN BE STRONG FOR ME AND MY MOTHER AND MY OTHER TEAMMATES. I KNOW THATS WHAT YOU WOULD HAVE DONE. NO MATTER WHAT I'M GOING TO CARRY YOU IN MY HEART, BODY, SOUL, AND MIND AND TAKE TO THE MAT ALL THAT YOU HAVE TAUGHT AND SHOWED ME. YOUR SUCH AN INSPIRATION AND A MOTIVATOR TO ME. I REMEMBER IN DOMINICAN WHEN I FIRST SAW THAT GUY I WAS SCARED AND YOU COULD SEE IT IN MY FACE BUT YOU LOOKED RIGHT AT ME AND SAID YOU GOT HIM AND YOUR COMING AWAY WITH THE GOLD AND THATS EXACTLY WHAT I DID. WE BEEN THROUGH SO MUCH. ALL GOOD EXPERIENCES NO BAD ONES AT ALL. YOU ARE MY TRUE COACH CAUSE WE UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER SO MUCH MORE ITS LIKE WE HAVE A CONNECTION BEYOND CONNECTIONS. LIKE TWIN TELEPATHY ALMOST. MY TEACHER TOLD ME ABOUT AN AFRICAN PROVERB SAYING A PERSON NEVER DIES UNTIL EVERYONE IN THE COMMUNITY FORGETS THEY EVER LIVED. NO ONE CAN FORGET ABOUT YOU SENSEI YOU'LL ALWAYS BE WITH ME ESPECIALLY BEFORE EVERY MATCH. SO DONT FORGET TO TELL ME WHAT TO DO. STAY WITH ME I KNOW I'M GOING TO NEED YOU THROUGH EVERYTHING. I'M DEDICATING MY 2001 UNITED STATES JUNIOR OLYMPIC MEDAL TO YOU. THATS THE FIRST NATIONAL MEDAL WE'VE EVER ONE TOGETHER. 7 FIGHTS ALL IPPONS WHAT A START TO A WONDERFUL CAREER TOGETHER. I LOVE YOU SENSEI FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART. YOU'LL ALWAYS BE THERE AND NEVER FORGOTTEN.
