Lester, Evelyn Funeral service for Mrs. Evelyn Gilstrap Lester, 77, will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday October 13, 2009 at Rock Temple AME Church, 1021 Bryant St., Conyers, Ga. Rev Henry D. Andrews Sr., Pastor. Interment, Green Meadow Memorial Gardens, Conyers, Ga. Visitation today, 2 pm to 8 pm. She leaves to cherish her memory: devoted husband, Sam Lester; sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Lester Bass; aunts, Leidies Parker, Pauline Dudley, Annie Jones of Conyers, Ruth Lee, Rosa Craig, and Lucy Pennington of Atlanta, GA; uncle, Grover C. Simmons, Jr. of Decatur, GA; nephew, Charles Bass (Olive) and niece, Sara P. Jones, special cousin, Byron Gilstrap, other relatives and friends. Please accept my belated condolences to the families of Samuel and Evelyn Lester. We worked together in Stuart, Virginia for a few years. I found both to be fine people. Mr. Lester was a dedicated and respected principal and Evelyn was a congenial coworker.

Evelyn was a dedicated teacher who was respected by her students and colleagues alike. We worked together at the Harrisburg Middle School in the 1980's, and I valued her willingness to take a younger teacher under her wing. Please accept my sincere condolences on your loss.
