Frances HOWARD

1942 - 2018

HOWARD, Frances Mahon Frances Mahon Howard, 75, of Atlanta, GA died peacefully, surrounded by family on Thursday, January 4, 2018. She was born in London, Kentucky on June 14, 1942 to Dr. George S. Mahon, Sr. and Margarette McCaslin Mahon. Frances earned her Bachelor's Degree from Agnes Scott College. After raising her children, she went on to earn her Ph.D. in Education from Georgia State University. Her career reflected her lifelong commitment to education and literacy, including positions as lecturer in the College of Education at Georgia State University and working in training and coordination for Hands On Atlanta. In recent years, she spent her time tutoring at the Atlanta International Community School and volunteering at The Church of Our Saviour. Frances was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend, opening up her home and life to everyone around her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Charles King Howard, Jr. She is survived by her daughter and grandson, Elizabeth Clark Howard and Joshua King Howard; her daughter and son in law, Katherine Natasha and Daniel Bramlett; her sister and brother in law, Margarette and David Dye; her brother, George S. Mahon; her sister and brother in law, Lisa Mahon and Phil Flores; and her brother and sister in law, Christopher and Martha Mahon. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Kemin, Maggie, Josh, Valentina, Kevin and Corday. For those wishing to attend her memorial, the service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 12th at The Church of Our Saviour, 1068 North Highland Avenue, Atlanta, GA 30306.
