Family-Placed Death Notice

PIDCOCK, Frank, IV Frank Ramsey Pidcock, IV MOULTRIE - Frank Ramsey Pidcock IV, 47, of Moultrie, died Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at his residence. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 25, at Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Tolbert officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. Gordon Lewis, Bud Stringer, D.W. Adcock, Patrick Mobley, Kirk Friedlander and John Newton will serve as pallbearers. The honorary pallbearers will be Tim Barber, Rich Beverly, Al Funderburk, Buck Heard, Kristoff Hildebrandt and Charlie Hildebrandt. Born Feb. 25, 1962, in Moultrie, he was the son of Cary Redwine Carmichael of Moultrie and the late Frank Ramsey Pidcock, III. He was a descendant of one of the founding fathers of Colquitt County, who brought Georgia Northern Railroad to Moultrie. He graduated from Valdosta State University with a degree in business. He was the owner and operator of Ashburn Hill Hunting Preserve and Plantation, a business that has been in Moultrie for 150 years. He served as a lifetime member of Ducks Unlimited, serving as the state vice chair and local chair. He served on Governor Roy Barnes' Advisory Board for the Tobacco Buy-out Fund, was a member of the Georgia Tobacco Warehouse Association, past president of the State of Georgia Tobacco Association and the owner of Pidcock Tobacco Warehouse. He was a past board member of the Sunset Country Club and a past trustee of Moultrie Community Trust. He was a major supporter of the Ramsey Pidcock golf tournament, a statewide competition named for his grandfather, and a supporter of the Western Colquitt County Volunteer Fire Department. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dan Carmichael Pidcock. In addition to his mother, survivors include a son, Ramsey Jones Pidcock, 14, of Moultrie; a daughter, Edith Jordan Pidcock, 12, of Moultrie; a brother, Wayne Carmichael and wife Katherine of Bellingham, Wash.; a sister, Elizabeth Pidcock Drake and husband Bill of Thomasville, Ga.; and nieces and nephews, Josephine Drake, Francis Drake, Destiny Carmichael, Burgandie Carmichael and Eamon Carmichael. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 24, at 1890 Tree Farm Rd. Donations can be made to Trinity Baptist Church in honor of Ramsey Pidcock or The Boys and Girls Club of Moultrie Recovery Program. Baker-Harrell-Faircloth Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
