Ms. Allen was my drama teacher/coach at Charles Lincoln Harper High School in Atlanta, GA for one year in the 1960's.
In later years, I followed her acting career with curious delight. The characters she was cast in, were so unlike the Georgia I knew. She was bold, feisty, and uncompromisingly frank. During one class, she told me that I was a much better writer than an actor and that my behind the scene skills would be much more appreciated. At the time, I didn't realize that she had taken her time to investigate my background. I was flattered rather than frustrated. This drew a rare, but genuine, smile and head nod from her. Her mentoring led me in the right direction.
My condolences to her family. I will miss her diva expressions, but she will live on through her films and in my heart.
There are precious few people that have made a positive and lasting impression on me. Georgia Allen was one of them.

We extend our deepest sympathy to the Allen family (Judy & Punch). Mrs. Allen came into my life in 1945 as our down stairs neighbor. She taught me how to ride a bike. Our family has so many fond memories of Mrs. Allen. She and my late mother (Sadie Robinson) were great friend. Here's to a life well lived.

My dear Judy, my heartfelt condolences to you and family. Georgia left an enormous footprint in our hearts. When doing my first play in Summer Theater at Spelman, just watching her work on stage was an acting lesson in itself. Most sincerely, Marie Thomas
She will be missed but my memories of her are ever so special. God Bless !
