I want to extend my condolences to Coach Head's family, friends, and loved ones. Coach Head was not only a dedicated servant as a Smith High Hawks coach and administrator but also a role model who inspired countless students with his passion for education and commitment to excellence. Coach Head´s impact extended far beyond the sports field; he was a mentor, funny, and a guiding light for many of us. His unwavering dedication to his students and steady support will always be remembered. He leaves an impression we will never forget. Rest well, Sir. Your spirit will forever remain in our hearts, guiding us towards success and inspiring us to be the best versions of ourselves.

I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the family of Coach Head. I am forever grateful to him for teaching hundreds of us poor, black children (at Smith High School) to SWIM!! The Parks Sisters finally retired that pink swim suit you teased us about (lol).

My heartfelt condolences to his wife, family, and closest friends. Coach Head was a Gem to me and my family. He was a Rock and a Man´s Man. He is the reason that I was successful in everything I tried because I saw him do everything he tried successfully. Rest In Power and Victory Coach.

It was 30 years ago when Harold Head led the creation of the BRAG (Bike Ride Across Georgia) Dream Team with BRAG Director Jerry Colley to provide an extraordinary experience for middle school students enrolled in Atlanta Public Schools. He recruited APS educators Don Doran and Jeff Cramer to be BRAG Dream Team coaches and convinced other APS colleagues to support this youth cycling experience that would expose middle school age students to the great outdoors across the state of Georgia and grow their self-esteem, self-confidence, and team building skills. In 2019, on the 25th Anniversary of the BRAG Dream Team, Coach Head was presented with a cycling jersey to recognize his role as the "Father of the BRAG Dream Team" who nurtured it during the 1990s. Inspired by Coach Head, dozens of adult cyclists in Atlanta volunteered to become BRAG Dream Team coaches in the 21st century and the APS program has grown into an independent nonprofit organization that serves middle and high school age youth across the state of Georgia. We will always remember and honor Coach Head for his servant leadership and his commitment to growing the dream for the next generation. Long live the giving spirit of Coach Head!
