Harry Moyer Obituary


Family-Placed Death Notice

Harry A. Moyer Sr. USA Ret. a native of Reading, PA., age 88, died Wednesday, December 31, 2003 at the Atlanta VA. Hospital. He was drafted into the Army July 12, 1941 and served in the Coast Artillery, and Field Artillery. He entered paratroop training Ft. Benning, GA. and served as a jumpmaster before joining the 11th Airborne Division in the Pacific. Upon discharge in January 1946, he reenlisted and was assigned to recruiting duty until 1950. At that time he entered Brooks Army Medical Center to train as a Physical Therapist. He served in that capacity in Germany and Valley Forge General Hospital, PA. until his retirement June 1, 1962 (serving 21 years). He settled in Atlanta, GA. and opened a picture frame shop continuing operation for 35 years. He was a gifted person, a musician, a photographer, and an artist. His talents will be remembered by many. His son, David, predeceased him on June 24, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Frances, his sons, Harry Jr. and Mark. His daughter in law, Astrid and grandson Eric, and granddaughter, Melissa. He is also survived by his brother Lt./Col. Garrison Moyer USAF Ret. Fresno CA., several nieces and nephews.
