My heart is saddened to hear of Helen's passing. She started work at Citizens National Bank just a month before I began to work there, in 1969.
She was Mr. May's secretary and I was the New Accounts clerk. She welcomed me into a new world, and was so kind to me, and very patient! I admired her, and learned so much from her. It was only my second job in the world :)
I worked with Helen until 1972, and then moved to Dallas, but I kept up with her and her family over the years. I loved her big laugh, her wonderful cooking and recipes she shared (when we'd have pot luck lunch at the bank), walking to eat at Luby's or El Sombrero, with Nell and Verlee. And, I admired her intellect and her integrity more than I can tell you. She was a sharp cookie!
I wish you all sweet dreams of your mother, always.
