In our twenties, Moe's was out home-away-from-apartment and Horace kept us fed and entertained. One night, just to be sure my friend wouldn't hate herself in the morning, Horace cut her off -- from Moe Joe burgers. His words, when she tried to order a third: "No, ma'am, I don't think you'd be happy about that tomorrow." We have always taken that as tribute to his humanity.

Horace,
Moe's and Joe's will not be the same without you. You will be sorely missed by all. God Bless.

We are just devastated to hear of Horace's death (and too late to attend the service). He was a very special man. We will never forget his kindness, red jacket and smiling face to greet us at Moe's and Joe's.
We miss you Horace, enjoy your new life, you deserve it.
Love,
Rick and Shelly Walden

Mr. McKennie was one of the nicest and most hospitable men that I've ever had contact with. It was always a joy to be around him and members of his family.
My deepest sympathies go out to his entire family on their loss and especially to my dear friends Jeannie and Joyce. I shall keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Sorry to hear about the passing of Horace.I use to be a beer vendor at the Braves stadium and after the games I would go in and talk with Horace at Moes and Joes about the game. From 1991-1996 Horace and I must have had personal wagers among us say 100 times. Of course they were just small bets but we had a good time betting each other. He told me ALOT of baseball stories about his beloved Brooklin Dodgers, as I know Horace loved the Dodgers and Jackie Robinson.I will never forget Him and IT is fitting that the last time I saw Horace was at a Braves game about 3 years ago.I share in your families lost.Horace is now in baseball heaven.BRAVES VS DODGERS was Horace's favorite game to watch on T.V.
