Jackson Nesbitt Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

NESBITT, Jackson Jackson Lee Nesbitt, was born June 16, 1913, passed away on February 20, 2008, at the Northlake Gardens in Tucker. Mr. Nesbitt was born in McAlester, Oklahoma and attended the University of Oklahoma before going to the Kansas City Art Institute where he studied under Thomas Hart Benton. He concentrated on printmaking and produced industrial art for steel, manufacturing and oil companies as well as genre etchings. Becoming discouraged with free-lance work, in 1957 he located with his family to Atlanta to work for Lockheed as a conceptual artist and eventually pursued a livelihood in the specialty advertising business. When he retired thirty years later, his artwork had been rediscovered and he began an association with Rolling Stone Press, the lithography studio of the late Wayne Klein. Over the next five years he produced a series of six lithographs. Elaine Thompson Nesbitt, his wife of 65 years predeceased him. He leaves three children, Kathryn (Carl) of California, Elaine (Frank) of Florida and Thomas (Norma) of Tucker, 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Private Family Memorial is planned.
