James Contardi Obituary

CONTARDI, James Neil

April 7, 1963 -

October 31, 2025

James "Jim" Contardi, 62, passed away peacefully at his home in Atlanta on the morning of October 31, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Throughout his illness, he was lovingly cared for by his devoted wife, Jana Noel Contardi, whose steady strength and grace never left his side. In his final days, his children and family gathered around him, offering love and comfort.

Jim's life was defined by integrity, purpose, and devotion to family. A man of strong Christian faith, he drew strength and peace from his belief in God throughout his life and illness. His calm confidence and grace reflected a trust that guided every decision and relationship.

A proud Iowa State University alumnus, Jim graduated with honors earning a Bachelor's Degree in electrical and computer engineering in 1985. He went on to earn a Master of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University in 1991. His education shaped the foundation of a distinguished career in the software and technology industries, where he served as Operating Partner as well as Chief Executive Officer across several private equity organizations.

Over more than three decades, Jim led companies through growth and transformation, including several successful mergers and acquisitions. Known for his strategic vision and focus on people, Jim believed deeply in the potential of empowered teams and left an enduring mark on those he mentored.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Jim served for nine years as an executive board member of SafeHouse Outreach, a nonprofit organization committed to supporting individuals in crisis. His leadership, guidance, and ability to connect people provided meaningful resources and opportunities to the community he served.

Outside of work, Jim was passionate about Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR). He found joy and focus behind the wheel and admired the precision and discipline the sport demanded. Whether following a race or spending time at the track, he approached it with the same intensity and curiosity that defined every part of his life.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Jana Contardi; his children, Cayla Scott (Josh), Collin Contardi (Anthony Han), and Camille Donoho (Josh); stepdaughters, Noel Wallace and Sara-Margaret Wallace (Dakota Linderman); father, Neil Contardi; mother, Sue Contardi; sister, Kim Pareigat (Tom); nieces, Lauren Dao (Khoi) and Marissa Pareigat; and close family friend, Kiet Nguyen. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend whose strength, loyalty, and compassion anchored those he loved.

Those who knew Jim will remember him for his wisdom, wit, and steadfast faith. His life was a testament to perseverance, generosity, and love.

A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate Jim's life and legacy. Announcement to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The James and Jana Contardi Surgical Oncology Research Fellowship at Winship Cancer Institute.

Just today, I learned of Jim's passing.
Jim was my boss after Alpine Investments acquired ARCOM.
His honesty and openness in all things, including the Avitru's finances, is something I have never experienced before.
He was a great boss and a great person, and we connected through our shared interest in vintage racing

He was the type of person that helped everyone who's life he touched.

Jim was a dear friend and a truly good, honest and kind human being. He faced his long battle with cancer in the same way he lived life - with grace and courage. We will deeply miss him and are fortunate & honored to have known him. Our deepest condolences to Jana and the Contardi family.

Jana and family, my condolences. The one word that come to mind when I think of Jim in my long association with him from i2 to Avitru to Banyan and all that in between, is energy. The energy behind that twinkle in his eyes and the smile on his face is something that I will carry with me as his memory. - Karthik

What a kind and loving man Jim was. Even though our time together was short, I truly enjoyed the moments we shared. His family was his greatest joy.
