James Suggs Obituary

SUGGS, Jr., James Warren

James Warren Suggs, Jr., 92, died peacefully on November 1, 2025. He was a lifelong resident of Atlanta, a business owner, a father of four, and a committed Christian.

Born August 4, 1933, Jim married Nancy Carolyn Yates, in 1953. He was a member of Second-Ponce de Leon Baptist Church, serving as a deacon and teaching Sunday School for more than 40 years. Jim was known for his warmth, sense of humor, and sharp mind.

In addition to his parents, Jim and Ruby Suggs; he was predeceased by his wife; son, Joe Suggs; grandson, Bryan Suggs; brothers, Charles Suggs and David Suggs; and sister, Dr. Kathryn Leonard. He is survived by sons, Jim Suggs, III (Andrea), Rob Suggs (Gayle), and Steve Suggs. He is also survived by five grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on November 10, at 1PM, at Second-Ponce de Leon Baptist Church with visitation at the church at noon. Burial will follow the service at Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to his church.
