Jean BOOS Obituary

BOOS, Jean Schade "Jeannie" Jean Schade Boos, (Jeannie), 76, long time resident of Atlanta, was born in Bloomfield, NJ. January 17, 1941. Her parents were, Dr. Arthur Schade and Jean McDougal Sinclair. Jeannie passed on Good Friday, April 14, 2017, after having battled Glioblastoma Multiform,(GBM) brain cancer for 16 months. She was a graduate of Duke University, BA History and MA Teaching and an MA in Education from Georgia State University. She had retired from teaching in the Decatur School system. She is survived by her husband, Louis J. Boos; Daughter, Alexandra Rooks Hughes; Tucker, GA., son, Jason Sinclair Rooks, Avondale Estates, GA., and grandchildren; Catherine (Catie) Rooks, Dawson Rooks and Keelia Hughes. There will be a Celebration of her Life in Atlanta, to be scheduled. In lieu of flowers, the family has established a fund in Jeannie's name, the proceeds to go to research to find a cure for GBM brain cancer. Donations may be made in Jeannie's name to the: Tisch Brain Tumor Center, Duke University Medical Center, PO Box 3624 DUMC, Durham, NC 27710. Contact: Ellen Stainback, 919-684-4784.

Lou, I met you and Jean on the tour of India and Nepal. I enjoyed trading brief emails with her after the trip. She had told me about her Dx, but like her, I was hoping that she would beat the odds. My thoughts are with you and the family.
