I was his friend, his disciple, and his employee as a student of the School. He showed me kindness, always made time for me. I am guided often by the memory of his gentle warmth and easy-going manner. He will be missed. My condolences to his loved ones.

Dr. Goda was the best professor I had at Ga Tech. He was always kind, patient, and willing to listen. He will be missed.

Professor Goda was my advisor and teacher in the late 70's. His office was always open to us undergrads, especially those of us in grade trouble. He will be missed.

Professor Goda was a true friend during my time at Tech in the 80's. He knew me, encouraged me, pushed me to my limits, and later worked with me on my senior design project. He really cared about his students (and me) and he took time for you when you needed it. He also had a great sense of humor and I will miss this great man.

I took IS151 (Dummestron/Algol on the Burroughs B5500) from Mr. Goda when I first arrived on the Tech campus in the Fall of 1969.
He was a true gentlemen, an excellent teacher, and one of my favorite members of the GT community.
He will truly be missed.

John was the family "gem". I could not have hoped for a more wonderful person to come into our lives. As a brother-in-law he was much more a brother and a friend. His real passion in life was his teaching and his learning. He never stopped learning about his sciences and life. He loved to cook, to shop, to read and to explore. He would explore museums with you. He'd connect to all that was mechanical or structural, anything engineered. He'd stand with you, looking at the modern art for your sake, not his. He loved music, especially the organ, which he played. He had a wonderfully dry sense of humor and a deep honesty. All that he was, still is, because we have the best memories of this best of men. He was the dearest of hearts.

John was the family "gem". I could not hope for a better person to come into my life. As a brother-in-law, he was much more a brother and friend. His true passion in life was his students, his teaching and most importantly his learning. He never stopped learning about his sciences, about people and about life. He also loved to cook, to shop,to explore. He would explore museums with you, connecting to all that was mechanical or structural, but not to modern art (standing there with you for your sake, not his). His dry sense of humor and his wonderful honesty will be with us always. He was the dearest heart ever.

John was teaching when I showed up at Ga Tech and I was fortunate to have taken a course from him. He was a great guy and he will be missed.

It is sad to hear this news. As a colleague of John in the College of Computing at Georgia Tech, I knew him well and have benefited from his wisdom in dealing with undergraduates. My family and I still fondly cherish the visit to his farm and seeing his horses when he hosted a picnic for the College of Computing.

He will be missed by everyone he touched...heartfelt condolences to his family from my wife Vasanthi and me.
