HAMMOND, John Pierce John Pierce Hammond, age 73, of Marietta passed away on January 22, 2018. He was born on May 1, 1944 in St. Albans, Vermont to the late John Joseph and Janet Pierce Hammond. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Spafford Hammond, his sons John Pierce Hammond Jr. (Anna), Jay Michael Hammond, his granddaughter Adelaide Hammond, and his sisters Georgia Hammond Poyo and Laurie Hammond Welch. He is also survived by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Pierce, as everyone knew him, was graduated from Oglethorpe University in 1967. He began his career as a bank examiner and then spent over 30 years as a financial advisor. Pierce will be remembered for his passion for tennis including the pioneering of an underhand serve, his "count the F's" card, and his enthusiasm for "debate." Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life which will be held on February 10, 2018 from 1pm-6pm at his residence in East Cobb.
