The earliest time that I can remember about my exposure to Dub Brown is at the service station, Brown and Brown. My dad stored some of his equipment in the lot on the East side of the service station. There would be many times that I would need to wait for my father inside the office. What a experience that was. All the local neighbors being serviced by Mr. Brown and exposure to how he carried on his business. I got to hear many local stories and sometimes asked to leave the room when it got intense, if you know what I mean. It was a place of opportunities as I would try to bum a coin off the customers to put in the bubble gum machine to satisfy my need for a chew. I never had any coins as no work no pay. I believe sometime they gave me the coins to just get rid of me. The office was always busy and I had a hard time finding a place to sit, stand or just get out of the way. I sometimes just went outside for some relief. The great thing about that is I got to see the train steam engines go by on the tracks behind the service station and they would always blow their whistle when they went by the road crossing. How exciting. Oh yes I remember the good times of a typical southern service station by a great bunch of men. I don't think I could have asked for a better learning experience. You may have experienced the same, I sincerely hope so.

Dub and Doris Brown have been a steady influence in my life since Chamblee city politics brought us together. I have never known a more together couple, a more loving couple and that legacy was passed down to their children and grandchildren ... and passed on to their friends. Dub and Doris (I can't even say one name without the other) have been like family to me, a testimony to what marriage must be like in God's eyes, and an inspiration in so many areas of my life. Dub and Doris: resilient in the face of adversity, pure joy to be around, always supportive, always loving. Dub is what every father should emulate. I am so blessed to have known him. There will never be another quite like him. Such a dear, sweet man. Dub and Doris, I love you both.

To The Brown Family
Doris and Melanie
While many years have passed, the memories remain fresh of the strong kind man who was the "Head of the Browns of Chamblee." I will always remember the warmth of weekends spent in your home and times at Lake Lanier. I think of you often and will especially be thinking of you today.

Dear Doris,
I left a note for you in the front door jam of the Funeral home today. We were not aware they did not have anyone there.
We are so sorry to read of Dub's death. and so sorry that we will not be able to be with all of you, but I have an appointment with my Heart Doctor and I have to go and can-not cancel.
If they give you the note, you will have my address---the last letter I wrote was returned--so I do not know where you all are.
Just know you will be in my prayers and I hope to find you soon.
We loved Dub and you so very much.
God be with you.
Love Lou

Uncle Dub was one of a kind. He wasn't just an uncle to my dad, Bobby Brown, but a big brother. We all have many memories of the family times in Chamblee and at the Brown family lake houses back in the 60's & 70's. Fun and loving memories. RIP Uncle Dub. We will all miss you.

I grew up in Chamblee, in the sub-division just behind Brown's auto station. My Dad retired from Sears and worked until he was 85 doing auto inspections for Dub. My Mom still lives in that same house and is 94. I bought my first gas for my first car at Dub's station and bought almost all of my gas and auto service needs there until I moved to Duluth. Mom and I send our condolences.Dub was a great guy! Carolyn Willis Herbig - Duluth, Ga.

Mr. Brown was my other Father growing up. His son Mark and I were best friends and I spent almost every weekend at their house during the school year and on Lake Lanier in the summers. I never knew his Heroic actions in World War II. With Mrs. Brown (Doris) and sister Melanie we always enjoyed the best of times and a perfect environment growing up. Great food also!
