WELCH, Jonathan Jonathan Robert Welch, 47, passed away July 2015. Jon was born April 11, 1968 in Newnan, GA to Bobby Welch & Geraldine Smith Welch. Jon grew up in Newnan where he attended public schools and graduated from Newnan High School. He obtained a Bachelors Degree in Philosophy and Economics from Georgia State University. Jon was ever the intellectual who loved to read and could easily talk and become friends with people from all walks of life. His generous, loving spirit endeared him to many throughout his travels around the world. He was most proud of his role as a father to his son, Andrew. After his son was born, Jon became a stay at home dad and cherished the time he spent with his best friend and son. There will be a private family funeral at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St, Newnan, GA with Dr. Joel Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Rather than flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to either the American Turkish Friendship Council's ATFC-Catom project, 1266 West Paces Ferry Road, Unit 257, Atlanta, GA 30327 or to Rutledge Center, 61 Hospital Road, Newnan, GA 30263. Knew Mr. Welch from Teasley Elementary. He was always lending his support to the teachers and to school events. He was there for Andrew. Mr. Welch was a wonderfully congenial man and made a lasting impression on all who met him. Sincerest condolences to the family.

This is such a sad day.
Jon was a neighbor...I felt as if I (we, all of us) saw Andrew grow up when they were living here. We all enjoyed watching Andrew & his dad together, beautifully sharing so many of life's little sequences...hit everyone right-in-the heart, each time.
Those two were a special force ... anyone who saw/knew them will forever retain the strength, love & support between them & I am so thankful that Andrew has such a loving base & memories. I know I cannot go on forever about how much Jon was loved around here, but I could & he was....he was always doing things for others...one of THE most giving people EVER. My prayers have been with his family, will continue & I add my love. (am so sad to have missed his funeral)
He gave so much & is gone way, way too soon.
