JENNINGS (Rainwater), Julia "Julie" Louise
April 27, 1951 – November 6, 2025
Julia Louise Rainwater Jennings, beloved wife of 46 years of the late Judge William D. Jennings, III, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 6, 2025. She was 74 years old.
She was born in Atlanta, GA, on April 27, 1951. The family moved to Augusta, GA, in 1964, where Julie attended Langford Junior High School and graduated from the Academy of Richmond County in 1969. After two years at Mercer University, she transferred to the University of Georgia, where she earned a BFA in art in 1973. She later received an MA in art from Augusta College.
She and Bill were married on September 29, 1973, and moved to Birmingham, AL, while he attended Cumberland Law School. Back in Augusta, they were longtime members of the Church of the Good Shepherd. A gifted artist, Julie taught art at the Episcopal Day School for 15 years, thoroughly enjoyed her students, and took pride in their work. She was also active with the Guild of the Sacred Heart Cultural Center for many years.
A steadfast and loving wife, she supported her husband's career as Chief Judge of the Civil and Magistrate Courts until his death in 2020. Over the years, Julie and Bill were always devoted to their dogs. For the past few years, Julie found special comfort from her Yorkie, Bonnet.
Julie was predeceased by her parents, Billie Warren and Thelma Hill Rainwater and her husband. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, William Warren and Debra Yoshimura Rainwater, Alpharetta, GA; her nephew, William Samuel Nathan Rainwater, New York, NY; her sister-in-law, Lane Jennings Stewart, Athens, GA; her niece, Ansley Elizabeth Stewart, Atlanta, GA; her nephew & wife William Charles & Jenny Pressly Stewart, Greenville, SC,; her great-niece, Louisa Sinclair Stewart; and great-nephew, William Hayes Stewart, Greenville, SC; and many dear friends.

charity of one's choice.
There will be a visitation honoring Julie Jennings on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM, in the Parish Hall at The Church of the Good Shepherd, 2230 Walton Way, Augusta, GA.
