Karl WOLTERSDORF Obituary

WOLTERSDORF, Jr., Karl A. Karl A. Woltersdorf, Jr., of Alpharetta passed away after a brief illness on November 27, 2018. He was 88 years young. Karl was born in Huntsville, Alabama on September 30, 1930, and spent a happy childhood there. He often spoke of the valuable lessons he learned as a young paper boy. He attended United States Military Academy at West Point, graduating from USMA in 1952. He was an active Alumni and attended his 65th Class Reunion last May. Karl married his first love, Nancy Orgain, in the fall of 1952. They enjoyed 63 years of marriage before Nancy passed away in 2016. He served in the Army for three years and was stationed in Korea for a brief time. Karl had a lifetime career with Westinghouse Electric Corporation and enjoyed his work as a Regional Sales Manager. Upon retirement, Karl joined Christ Church Norcross where he was very active in the Vestry and Stewardship Committees and loved teaching and attending both Bible Study and Sunday School classes. He volunteered weekly in the community as a small business mentor for over 10 years. Karl is preceded in death by his parents, Karl A. Woltersdorf, Rebecca Harris Woltersdorf, and his wife, Nancy Orgain Woltersdorf. He is survived by his two daughters, Kathryn Wehunt and Nancy Maxwell, and their spouses, Ken Wehunt and Ted Maxwell, his four grandchildren, Rebecca Mortensen, Emily Maxwell, Ben Wehunt, and Claire Maxwell. Karl is also survived by his two great-granddaughters, Abigail and Lydia Mortensen. A memorial service will be held at Christ Church Norcross, located at 400 Holcomb Bridge Road, Norcross, Georgia, 30071, on Saturday, December 1 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ Church Norcross.
